The Woodcut Tools Bowlsaver Coring System accurately removes a perfect bowl every time. A long-lasting Stellite cutter will produce up to 500 bowls and works with green or seasoned wood. It is the only bowl coring system supported by a Morse taper that fits into the lathe’s tailstock, along with the security of knowing the Bowlsaver couples to the lathe via the lathe tool post. (It comes as a standard with a #2 Morse taper, alternative sizes are available if required). This design gives solid support and reduces vibration. The Bowlsaver will fit almost all lathes, large and small, from 12″ to 16″ swing with 1HP and up. We have a wide range of tool post options available and sold separately. Please contact us should you require assistance with this. The Bowlsaver has two blades, which are used one at a time. The blades combine cuts to remove blanks from 3″ up to 12″ inside the mother bowl. The cutters come sharp and ready to start coring. To resharpen, lightly sharpen with a Credit Card Hone or similar. A comprehensive user guide and a template pattern for determining bowl depth are included. The Bowlsaver has a handle that can easily be used for any 1/2″ dia. tools.
A Bowlsaver Light guide is also available as an accessory option for using the template pattern.

Early adopter here. I was excited to receive this excellent tool. Setup was easy. Bradley covered everything one needs to know to use this tool in his video. My lathe is 16 inches and I wasted no time putting the biggest chunk of wood I could. Shortly after, I had 12 bowls instead of four and a big pile of chips. Red Oak is not everyone’s favorite, it was what I had. Fresh cut at the time, they have been (hopefully) properly stored for the last 15 months. Time to have a look.
Looking for a coring system? This one is easy to use. I recommend it.
Bought this as a gift for my fiancée and he absolutely loves it. It took a little finessing on setting up the post and achieving the desired angle, but he figured it out after a few tries. He is now able to better utilize his large wood pieces to cut multiple bowls on the lathe. This is his second year into turning and he recommends it. For less waste and more pieces, this is a must-have.
Used my new coring tool twice so far. Easy to set up each time. Cut nice on both green, ash, and dry wood, soft maple. Will take some practice to get depth of cut just right to maximize the smaller bowls. I do recommend it.
